Abandoned Cart Recovery

A cart is 'abandoned' when the store platform records items in a cart, or a checkout started, with no completed order after a set delay, commonly 30 minutes to a few hours. Salla, Zid, Shopify and WooCommerce all expose this event, either as a webhook or through their apps. Recovery means acting on that event: a reminder with the items, an answer to the objection that stopped the purchase (shipping cost, payment method, size), and sometimes a limited incentive.

Why WhatsApp rather than email in the Gulf and Egypt: WhatsApp is the dominant business channel in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt, with penetration above 90 percent (market research, 2026), and shoppers open it far more readily than an inbox. The constraint is that the shopper must have opted in to WhatsApp messages (usually at checkout or account creation) and the first message must be an approved template, since more than 24 hours may have passed. Once the shopper replies, the free-form window opens and a real conversation can happen.

The difference between a reminder bot and an AI agent is what happens after the reply. A reminder bot sends a link.
