Salla (سلة)

Salla is one of the two dominant hosted store platforms in Saudi Arabia (the other is Zid). A merchant signs up, picks a theme, adds products, and gets checkout with local methods such as mada and Apple Pay, courier integrations and a store app, without running servers. On the developer side, Salla Partners provides OAuth-based access to the Merchant API (orders, products, customers, carts, coupons) and a webhook system that pushes events such as order created, order status updated or abandoned cart to any URL you register. Apps built this way can be published on the Salla App Store or kept private for one merchant.

For a Saudi merchant, most customer questions arrive on WhatsApp, not in the store's chat widget: where is my order, is this size available, can I change the address. Without integration, someone copies the order number into the Salla dashboard by hand. With the API and webhooks, an AI agent can answer from live store data, send a template message the moment an order ships, and recover abandoned carts with a reply-to-buy message. Market research in 2026 lists Salla and Zid merchants among the underserved segments for AI automation, and self-serve chat apps on the Salla App Store, such as Mando AI as published on their website (checked September 2026), cover the generic part of that need.
